Hazel Gillespie Community Investment Leadership Award

The Hazel Gillespie Community Investment Leadership Award (HG CI LA) was created to inspire and encourage excellence in community investment professionals. It is awarded to a professional involved in any aspect of a public or private organization’s community investment strategy within Calgary.

The award is named in honour of Hazel Gillespie, a professional renowned for her contribution to the field of community investment in North America. Throughout her exemplary career, Hazel set the benchmark for best practices and thought leadership. She was described as being generous with her time, incredibly strategic in her thinking, and fully committed to a higher level of leadership which showed how different sectors could work together to accomplish more than they could apart. This is why the words Generosity, Strategy and Commitment appear on the medallion given to recipients of the HG CI LA. Hazel Gillespie guided the profession by leading the evolution of community investment, showing that community investment was integral to an organization’s business success.

Outstanding Fundraising Professional Award

AFP’s mission is to advance philanthropy by enabling people and organizations to practice ethical and effective fundraising. The core activities through which AFP fulfills this mission include education, training, mentoring, research, credentialing and advocacy.

One of the ways we hope to advance the mission in our chapter is by recognizing fundraising professionals who have made significant contributions to the growth and development of ethical fundraising in the region. The honourees will each be outstanding contributors to the profession and advancement of the work of philanthropy by supporting the AFP Mission.
